Medical Ethics Training Course at the Medical Analysis Department

Shayan: On September 24th, the Medical Analysis Department organized an extensive training program focused on medical ethics. The main objective of this course was to provide healthcare practitioners the essential information and abilities required to deliver compassionate and ethical care to their patients. 

The seminar, comprising six sessions [Principles and Types of Ethics, Codes of Ethics I, Codes of Ethics II, Ethical communications, Research Ethics, Bioethics], was conducted by Dr. Shaween Z. Jamil, a well-respected authority in the domain of medical ethics. 

During the introductory session of the course Principles and Types of Ethics, an overview of the ethical framework within the medical field was discussed. During the session, Dr. Jamil emphasized the notion that ethics should not be regarded as a rigid framework of legal statutes or rules, but rather as a system of moral values that are intertwined with impartial discrimination, regardless of the patient’s racial, religious, or socio-cultural background. 

The second and third sessions, titled Codes of Ethics I and II, Dr. Shaween emphasized on the American Medical Association’s Code of Medical Ethics and its importance in medical practice. 

The fourth session & fifth session, titled as Ethical Communications & Research Ethics, demonstrated the importance of clear communication and active listening with the protection of the patient’s confidentiality. This makes patients feel more comfortable and builds trust which saves the practitioner from facing conflicts. 

The final session, Bioethics, Dr. Shaween discussed the ethical issues that might be faced during the use of biotechnology and the context of genetic research, and cloning. 

Overall, the medical ethics training course was a comprehensive and valuable experience for participants to ensure that they are providing the highest quality of care to their patients while maintaining the utmost respect for their autonomy and dignity.
